Faculty Registration (For Travel Without Students)

International Travel Policy for Faculty Research and Scholarship

The following is a summary of the required registration procedures for faculty who travel without students on University-sponsored (*) travel:
  1. In the interest of protecting faculty health and safety, as well as providing support in an incident or emergency, all faculty members must complete the on-line Travel Registration Form from the Center for International Programs (CIP) website (  Registrants are strongly encouraged to apply 90 days in advance of travel. 
  2. All faculty must sign the International Travel Policy for Faculty Research and Scholarship Waiver and Release of Claims Form prior to travel to any country for which a Travel Warning has been issued or where there is reliable information of the presence of significant health or safety risks. 
  3. Faculty will need to seek written approval from the Provost for travel to any country for which a travel warning has been issued by the U.S. Department of State, the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and/or the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Asset Control.  It is also recommended that faculty seek written approval from the Provost at least 90 days prior to travel to any country for which a Travel Warning (as defined here) has been issued.  Please contact the CIP for the request form: 
  4. Registration and approval, if applicable, must be complete prior to requesting faculty development funds or arranging travel with the SJU Travel Office. 
  5. Prior to departure, the CIP office will provide faculty members with the following support services and information (via the on-line Travel Registration): 
  • Country-specific information from the U.S. Department of State, including any Travel Warnings or Alerts
  • Country-specific information from the Centers for Disease Control
  • Additional, country-specific information as needed
  • General safety advice
  • Insurance information

Registration Instructions

Before you begin the registration process, please note the following:
  • If you are a faculty member working with the CIP office on a study-tour or summer program, you do not need to register here. Instead, please visit the Faculty Proposals page of our website.  If you are planning non-academic travel with any number of Saint Joseph's University students (undergraduate or graduate), please review the Group Travel Request page.
  • University-sponsored travel must be booked through the University Travel Office or Concur, the on-line booking tool.  Air and rail reservations booked outside of the Travel office will not be reimbursed, per the SJU Travel and Business Expense Policy.

Ready to Begin?
The following steps will guide you through the quick and easy process of registering your international travel with the CIP office.

Step 1: Click this "Register Now" button to begin: 

Step 2: Log-in with your SJU ID and password (unless you are already authenticated).  

Step 3: Complete your itinerary with your travel dates and destination/s.

Step 4: From the next page, complete the brief Questionnaire, which includes spaces for you to provide additional information about your trip.  This page also provides access to important travel resources, such as country-specific health and safety information and your University travel insurance card, which you should print and carry with you overseas.  
Returning to View/Complete Your Registration
You can return to work on your registration at any time, as long as it is complete 30 days prior to your departure.  To return, click "SJU Login/Register" at the top of the page to be taken to your Applicant Home page.  From here, click on the blue link for your registration.  Please do not hit "Register Now" from this page more than once as it will create multiple registrations for you.
