A passport is required for all study abroad programs. In many cases, your passport will be needed in advance of travel for a visa application and to book your flight.

Please note the following U.S. passport processing times (updated July 11, 2023). Routine processing can take 10-13 weeks. Expedited service (for an additional fee of $60) can take 7-9 weeks. 

If you have a passport, please take this time to check that it is signed and valid for at least 6 months beyond the end date of your stay abroad. If your passport needs to be renewed, please follow the instructions at travel.state.gov to begin the renewal process as soon as possible.

If you do not have a passport, please follow the instructions at travel.state.gov to begin the application process as soon as possible. The U.S. State Department is also hosting passport acceptance fairs in several states this summer to assist travelers applying for a new passport. Further details can be found at travel.state.gov

If you are an international student, please follow the guidelines of your home country should your passport need to be renewed.
