John Cabot University is very much an American university located in Rome. Half of the 1,000 students are study abroad students, the classes are taught in English, and courses are Monday through Thursday, giving students three-day weekends every week. Although the amount of effort you put into your abroad classes will most likely be comparatively less to the amount of effort you put into your classes at SJU, the academic experience is top-notch. The professors are some of the best in their field and care about your learning. JCU is located in a residential part of Italy, giving you a homey feel and making the experience of living in Rome less overwhelming. The campus is walking distance from places such as Vatican City, Piazza Venezia, Campo de' Fiori, and the Colosseum. I would highly recommend studying abroad in Rome at John Cabot University!

The only real downside to being at John Cabot is the poor WiFi in the dorms, it can make it difficult to communicate with family, friends, and do homework. It definitely takes a while to adjust to how the school system works in Italy, because it is different than back at SJU, but once you adjust it is a very nice experience. JCU is very close to the center of Rome and many major sights and it is easy to travel to each one of them. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice and provides a lot of different things to do at all times of the day.

I loved my time in Rome! John Cabot University's location in Trastevere put us right by some of the best restaurants and shops in Rome and was an easy walk away from some of the major sites of the city. During my time abroad I learned a lot, meet many lasting friends, and had time to travel throughout Europe!

This program is in a great location and it is easy to get to things. The campus itself is separated into two which are about a 10 minute walk from each other. There are a lot of food options and shops between the two campuses. The academics itself are a lot like Saint Joe's in the sense that this school is actually an university, not just a study abroad program. Classes are small, so it is very interactive. The school has resources such at the writing center that is encouraged to be used by a lot of professors. I stayed in the external apartments, and I found it being a little excluded from the rest of the school. If I had to do it again, I would have probably stayed in the dorms just for the purpose of making more friends. Overall, I had a great experience and really enjoyed my time there.
