When most people think of Paris, they think of iconic sights, like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe. These sites are important emblems of France's history, but today Paris is one of the most important business, financial, and political centers of the world. It has one of the highest GDPs of any city in the world, and is home to Fortune Global 500 companies that specialize in insurance, banking, and energy.
Paris is also known as the fashion capital of the world, hosting designers such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, and many more. Enjoy all that Paris has to offer while studying Business and International Affairs in the City of Light.
The Business & International Affairs Program offers IES Abroad courses taught by faculty from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. The program also offers students the option to take English-taught courses with French and international students at one of the program's partner universities. Enjoy field study trips within Paris, and excursions to important cities such as Geneva and Brussels. Or, gain valuable experience through a business-focused internship. With course offerings in English and French, and French language study, the IES Abroad Business & International Affairs Program is a unique experience for study abroad in Paris.

The IES Abroad program begins with one week of intensive language classes. You continue your language instruction for the remainder of the semester for a total of 4 credits (3 SJU credits). Enrollment is determined by a written, pre-departure language exam followed by an intensive language period on-site, during which oral proficiency is evaluated.
Then, based on your qualifications for taking Business courses and your language level, the rest of your academic experience may include the following components:
- IES Abroad Paris Business & International Affairs courses (optional, 3 US credits; English-taught, prerequisites for individual courses apply)
- IB/MG393 Global Leadership course to develop your cross-cultural leadership skills (optional, 3 US credits)
- Internship placement and seminar (optional, 3 US credits, requires placement into FR352 or higher)
- Partner University business course (optional, 2-3 US credits; English-taught; prerequisites for individual courses apply). Potential course offerings may include: Business Ethics, Entrepreneurship, Intercultural Communication, International and Corporate Finance, International Management, International Marketing.
Enrolling in one of these Partner University courses puts an IES Abroad student into a classroom with French and international students who are immersed in the study of entrepreneurship and business development. The local students enrolled in these business courses are focused on business around the world, and are particularly open to students from countries other than France.
*For the list of courses that have already been approved for SJU students, please click on "Pre-Approved Courses" at the top of this page.
(Note that Internships are only available to students placed in French language courses FR 325 or higher.)

Housing and Meals
IES facilitates housing placements in homestays, apartments (limited number, extra cost), and an International House for female students. Students who choose the homestay option - which is highly recommended - will stay in a French home in the city of Paris or its surrounding banlieues (suburbs), and have breakfast daily and three evening meals per week with your host(s). Other meals are available at university cafeterias and inexpensive restaurants. Students will have the option to request a typical homestay placement or a placement in a chambre de bonne (a separate room in the building of a homestay apartment).
Students should consult the Budget Sheets at the top of this page for estimated program costs. For the most up-to-date cost information, please visit the IES Abroad website. In addition, before choosing to study abroad in another country for anywhere from three to six months, you should consider the exchange rate
of your host country as well as the cost of living
in the city where you will be.
