Course Information

Course: MPE 720 Global Corporate Strategy with Dr. Thani Jambulingam Jambulingam

Eligible students:
  • Graduate students in Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Marketing, ACE & online
  • Students who are not on academic or disciplinary probation or deferred suspension may apply.
Note: Students who have already taken MPE 720 may be eligible to take this course as MPE 770 (Independent Study). Please discuss this with the department.

Course Description: The Global Corporate Strategy course focuses on the management of multinational corporations (MNCs) with particular emphasis on pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic companies operating within different global markets. While there, international environments imply greater opportunities because MNCs have access to new markets and resources, they also imply great organization and managerial challenges. The aim of this course is to investigate whether these challenges are worth it and how they can contribute to a company's "triple" bottom line. To accomplish this, the course will be held in Switzerland and assess the opportunities from MNCs operating within that country.

Credit: Upon acceptance, students will be registered for MPE 720, for 2 credits, as part of their Summer 2018 Semester course load. Students will not be able to register themselves for the course.

Student Testimonials
My trip to Ireland was a priceless life learning experience. A person may be at the beginning or at the end of their life sciences management career, either way, their educational experience through SJU in Ireland will become enriched.  The companies SJU presented in Ireland were at the highest intellectual level.  SJU classes in Ireland were very well structured, open learning classroom environment.  There was at total collaboration between the SJU professor, staff, and students.
-Thomas Golden, 2014 MPE International Residency in Ireland

The recent Global Strategy trip to Ireland far exceeded all my expectations relative to culture, academics, industry and course content.  Our site visits were not only well thought out but provided excellent access and insight to many prestigious manufacturing sites within the Bio-Pharma and medical device industry.  We had access to manufacturing assembly lines and clean rooms that typically in the operations side of the business I would not normally be able to experience and appreciate.  Additionally, being able to have discussions with top leaders within these organizations and industry (IMB) provided us an education of global strategy that was very relative to the industry and applicable to course expectations.  I would highly recommend for students of the program to consider participating in this residency in the future as it provided learning opportunities beyond the books and classroom setting.
-Cheryl Guzman, 2014 MPE International Residency in Ireland
