Application Process

SJU STUDENTS

1. Research programs. Students should review SJU faculty-led program details and eligibility requirements online in order to narrow their program interests down.

2. Attend an info session. The CIP recommends attending an information session on the program(s) that you are interested in and scheduling a meeting with a CIP staff member or your academic advisor if necessary.

3. Apply for a passport. Although a copy of your passport is not needed in order to apply for a SJU Summer Program, it can take 6 weeks or more to obtain a passport. Upon acceptance, the CIP will need a copy of your passport. This is especially important if a visa is required for your program. If your passport is expired or will expire less than 6 months from your program's date of return, please renew your passport right away.

4. Submit your application. Students must submit an online application to the CIP. Please use the Program Search to find a Summer Program that you would like to apply to. Click 'Apply Now' to begin your online application.

As part of the application, a check or money order made payable to SJU for $300 as a deposit on the total program fee must be submitted. Deposits are non-refundable and should be brought to the CIP office. Your application will not be accepted as complete until the CIP has received the deposit and checked this submission off on your application. The deadline to apply for a Summer Program is February 1st at 11:59pm.

*Please apply early as spaces will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis and in many cases, space is limited! In addition, some elements of the application take extra time to complete.

5. Application status. Once the deadline passes, a CIP staff member will notify students of their approval status for the Summer Program course by way of an email sent to your SJU account. If your application has been waitlisted or denied, you will receive an automated email.

6. Once accepted. After you receive an approval email, you will then receive an automated email asking you to log in to confirm your participation in the Summer Program within a certain time frame. Students are then required to complete various post-acceptance materials.

Note: Students on Academic or Disciplinary Probation or deferred suspension are not eligible for Summer Program courses.

Summer Program CIP Grant Application:

Are you an undergraduate degree-seeking SJU student? Are you applying for a SJU Summer Program? Apply for a grant! If selected, this award will help cover students' program fees. Please read the qualifications and instructions carefully.

Please apply for a Summer Program before applying for the Grant. Both applications are due by 11:59pm February 1st. Access the Grant application here.
